New Orleans Talk Network was founded in 2013 in Marrero, LA by Pastor Donald R. Jones and Gerod Stevens. It was founded with the intent to provide an alternative news outlet to the public and to provide up to date news and social living components that help to better serve our community. We report and facilitate dialogue, which allows the community to interact and voice their concerns on an open platform.
DONALD R. JONES
Pastor Donald R. Jones is a life-long resident of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. Mr. Jones is the Chief Executive Officer of Jones Insurance Agency, which he formed in 1986 and CEO/President of STEP Construction, LLC. He has been an active member of the community for over 30 years.
In September 1989, Donald R. Jones became the first African-American to be appointed to the Jefferson Parish School Board, appointed by Federal District Judge Fredrick Heebe. In November 1991, Donald R. Jones marked another momentous moment in the history of Jefferson Parish LA., when he became the first African-American to be elected to the Jefferson Parish Council. Mr. Jones faced a unique challenge as the only African-American on the council; he was not only called upon to represent the interest of his district constituents, but also the many minorities throughout the region who seeked his guidence and leadership. Nevertheless, he aggressively faced the challenge and was re-elected by an overwhelming majority in 1995 and 1999. Where he continued to provide bold and innovative leadership as he addressed the diverse needs of his constituents and the needs of the Parish at large.
Pastor Jones was ordained on March 24, 2004 as a minister of the gospel. He is the founding Pastor of Bethesda House of Prayer in Marrero. Pastor Jones continues to provide bold and innovative leadership as he addresses the economical, social, and spiritual needs of the community.
Mr. Gerod Stevens is thirty-six year veteran of radio and TV. He is the former operations manager for Clear Channel Radio, Assistant General Manager of WBOK Radio, Program Director of numerous radio stations in North Carolina, Virginia, New York. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina and Central Carolina College with a Master in Mass Communications.
